Winds gaining strength in hurricane alley

Tropical storm Gustav has hit Jamaica, where emergency measures have hurriedly been introduced after initial forecasts said the storm would miss the island.
Meteorologists say Gustav could strengthen to become a hurricane at any time.
The death toll in Haiti as a result of the storm has risen to over 50, while at least 8 people died in the Dominican Republic.
Louisiana in the United States has declared a state of emergency, and the Mayor of New Orleans is considering evacuating some areas of the city.
In 2005, about 80 percent of New Orleans was inundated and more than 1,575 people in Louisiana were killed as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
Out in the Atlantic Ocean, the next storm of the season, Hanna, is gaining strength, and is also expected to move towards the Bahamas.
