American Airlines asks pilots to stay
Thailand News.Net Saturday 13th September, 2008
American Airlines has decided not to go on with a pilot cut.
The airline planned to reduce the number of pilots to fit in with its shrinking flight schedule.
In July, the company said it would let go 200 pilots, but early retirements and vacations have already reduced the number of pilots.
American said 147 pilots have retired since Aug 1st.
Management has warned job cuts will still continue in other departments as the airline tries to reach its 6,500 employee reduction plan.
