Dell says computer sales will decline

Dell, the computer company, has announced it expects the global computer market to further soften.

The global demand for computers and other information technology products is on the decline with Dell saying continued conservatism for IT products in the US had spread to Western Europe and several Asian countries.

Nevertheless, Dell said it had gained market share in all product lines and in all regions of the world in the first half of the year.

Last month Dell announced it would try to rein in manufacturing costs by selling some plants.
