TOKYO -- China and Japan reached consensus on a wide range of issues including fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting economic recovery and supporting each other in hosting the Olympic Games, visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here on Tuesday.

As the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging across the globe, the human community shares weal and woe, and the interests and security of all countries are closely linked, Wang said at a joint press conference with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi following their meeting. BAMYAN, Afghanistan -- At least 14 civilians were killed and 45 others wounded in the twin explosions at a market place in Bamyan city, capital of Afghanistan's central Bamyan province on Tuesday, a provincial government spokesman confirmed.

"The explosions came in a very short span of time in a crowded market place roughly at 4:30 p.m. local time. The casualties were shifted to a provincial hospital," spokesman Latif Azimi told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Blasts)

NEW DELHI -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting with chief ministers of all states via video conferencing on Tuesday to review the situation of COVID-19 and preparedness of virus response and management, with an emphasis on eight high-focus states.

The high-focus states are Haryana, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat and West Bengal. (India-Modi-COVID-19)

BANGKOK -- Thailand's National Vaccine Institute said on Tuesday that local COVID-19 vaccine's production is scheduled to begin in mid-2021.
