CHICAGO, Illinois: Greater than 96 percent of America's practicing physicians are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the American Medical Association.
Further, it is reported that among those 4 percent not yet vaccinated, 45 percent plan on being vaccinated.
"Practicing physicians across the country are leading by example, with an amazing uptake of the COVID-19 vaccines," said Dr. Susan Bailey, president of the American Medical Association, in a statement.
"Physicians and clinicians are uniquely positioned to listen to and validate patient concerns, and one of the most powerful anecdotes a physician can offer is that they themselves have been vaccinated," Bailey added.
The national survey was conducted June 3 to 8 and indicated an increase of more than 20 percent of physicians vaccinated, compared to a May poll.
To encourage physicians to become vaccinated against the Covid infection, the American Medical Association sponsored a webinar series entitled, "What Physicians Need to Know."
The series has included insights from experts on the vaccine review process and on vaccine development and distribution.
