BANGKOK, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's exports have increased to the highest level in 11 years as global demands have risen, Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said on Friday.

The exports of Thai goods rose 41.6 percent in May and 43.8 percent in June, compared to the corresponding periods last year, the commerce minister said.

Thailand's export of automobiles and automotive parts accounted for a 78.5 percent increase and that of computers and parts accounted for a 21.6 percent rise in June.

In June, the exports of Thai goods to the European Union rose 47 percent, those to China rose 42 percent, and those to the United States rose 41 percent, compared to the same period last year.

Thailand's exports have increased 15.53 percent during the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year while imports have increased 26.15 percent, resulting in a trade surplus of 2.44 billion U.S. dollars.
