Arsons, explosions reported in petrol stations in Thailand southern border provinces

BANGKOK, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Multiple petrol stations in Thailand's southern border provinces were hit by arson attacks and explosions late Saturday night, leaving one police officer injured, Thai military sources said on Sunday.

The Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Command said in a statement posted on its social media accounts that the attacks targeted 11 petrol stations across Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat provinces, causing extensive property damage. Preliminary reports said a police officer from the Ra-ngae Police Station in Narathiwat Province was injured. No fatalities have been reported so far.

The military has ordered all units in the affected areas and neighboring regions to raise security measures to the highest level to ensure public safety, while intensifying efforts to track down those responsible, the statement said.
