Thailand's Suwannarut surges ahead at golf Macao Open, China's Ye sits second

MACAO, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The 2025 Macao Open entered its second round on Friday, with Thailand's Sarit Suwannarut taking the sole lead after carding a two-round total of 12-under 128 (65-63), capped by a 20-foot eagle putt on the 18th hole.

Ye Wocheng of China's Guangdong Province sat three shots back in second after a round featuring seven birdies. "Competing here in Macao, where the language feels familiar, is just like being home," Ye said.

The tournament teed off Thursday at the Macao Golf and Country Club. In the opening round, China's Ding Wenyi and Thailand's Gunn Charoenkul shared the lead at 7-under 63. Ding slipped to a tie for third after a 69 on Friday.

The event features 144 players from around the world, including defending champion Rattanon Wannasrichan of Thailand and England's Lee Westwood, who won the Macao Open in 1999.
